Parkinson’s-Diabetes Link Grows Stronger

A new study warns that as overweight people with type-2 diabetes age, their risk for acquiring Parkinson’s disease increase. The new Finnish study also found obese diabetics to be at a significantly greater risk of acquiring a neurological disorder. Study author Dr. Gang Hu, senior researcher at the National Public Health Institute in Helsinki said, “These findings are important from a clinical and public health point of view. Type 2 diabetes is increasing rapidly in all populations, and its impact on various health outcomes are not fully known or even explored.” According to HealthDay, “Parkinson's disease affects about 1.5 million Americans, according to the National Parkinson Foundation.
